Hi all, I’m a 34 year old man living in Kansas and have been overweight as long as I can remember. I grew up piggybacking on fad diets which never worked out. I would get hype over losing 15 pounds only to gain it all back plus some. Those diets are not sustainable over a long period of time. I’ve always heard that losing weight and becoming healthy required a “lifestyle change” but I never bought into that ideology because I never found anything that worked for me. My heart was never committed to upkeep on my body until I became a dad.
I poked around and found that basic calorie counting was difficult. For a while I maintained weight in the high 390s and I felt like 400 was imminent and that scared me. I can’t remember how I discovered keto but once I lost the first 30 pounds I realized that I could sustain and grow into the person I wanted to be. In the spirit of brevity I will point out that for me, prioritizing fats, drinking water, and exercising have helped me lose around 80 pounds. Something that is very beneficial to me is realizing that weight loss is basic math, calorie deficit, from there I’m able to keep the weight off. Keep in mind weight fluctuates constantly so I don’t weigh every day.
I will also be addressing my own mental health and the effect losing weight has had on my mentals. Confidence boost, body dysmorphia, body composition, clothing, all these things are happening in real time to me. I’m still learning my body and how to best fuel it and take care of it, because it really is a temple. Come along for the journey and enjoy yourselves!
Lastly, and probably more importantly, I’ll be sharing recipes along with stories to go with. I really enjoy cooking and I am constantly exploring what other foods I can prepare! I will be posting pictures on instagram here
