Keto Sloppy Joes

The Ingredients:

  • Ground beef (I used 73/27 frozen beef patties)
  • A can of sloppy joe sauce
  • Medium onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Water
  • Salt
  • fresh cracked black pepper
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Paprika
  • Chili powder
  • BBQ seasoning (has some cumin in it)
  • Keto burger buns
  • American cheese
  • Oil
  • Butter

The Method:

  • Diced onion and garlic then added to medium heated pan with oil, seasoned with above seasonings. Cooked until browning happened
  • Turned down heat to medium low and added butter, checked every 5 minutes or so to stir everything, and when it got too hot or close to burning I added some water and reduced heat. About 30-40 minutes total until caramelization 🙂
  • Separately I seasoned my frozen beef patties and threw in the air fryer
  • While meat cooked I added sloppy joe canned sauce to my caramelized onions/garlic pan and held medium low heat and simmered until everything tightened up/reduced
  • About 10 minutes later beef patties were mostly cooked so I chunked them up and added to sauce
  • Cooked on medium low another 10 minutes or so
  • Got my keto buns and added melted butter and garlic powder and toasted them while sloppy joe mixture finished up
  • I made sloppy joe sandwiches with american cheese because that’s nostalgia baby
