For some reason I think it’s funny to phrase my recipes as questions. That’s because sometimes when I cook, I’m throwing it together based on flavors. I think this will work? This isn’t me gloating saying I’m the best home chef ever (because I clearly am, duh) lol but I enjoy transforming ideas. Probably from all the Chopped I watch, they’re all about transforming ingredients.
The Ingredients:
- Boneless pork roast
- Yellow onion
- Sugar free root beer
- Beef bouillon cubes
- Water
- Rubbed sage
- Salt
- Pepper
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
The Method:
- Low in slow cooker for 6-8 hours or until fork tender
That’s pretty much it, you can see pics on my instagram (shameless plug here). As always, go with your heart on seasoning. I’ll tell you what I did and I liked it: I scored the fat and rubbed the seasoning on all sides then pan seared it before dumping it in the crock pot. This was based on a recipe from someone I used to know where they would use 2 packets of onion soup seasoning. So I tried to mimic that with my seasonings above and I used a 20 fluid ounce bottle of zero sugar root beer. Luckily the only way I can mess this meal up is if I overcooked it, so I checked on it starting at 6 hours and I believe I stopped the cooking around 7.5 hours. It was very juicy and very fatty, and it made me several wonderful leftovers (like a breakfast taco). Also recently I’ve been cutting my onions bigger across all my recipes because they’re yummy.
Until next time,
